After graduating RVC, Sherry transferred to UW-Whitewater where she graduated with a B.S. in Education in 1971. While at UWW, she participated in six different intercollegiate sports (volleyball, basketball, softball, field hockey, tennis, and track & field). She qualified to attend the 1970 National Track & Field Championships in javelin throw. Sherry was inducted into the UW-Whitewater Hall of Fame in the 1980’s.

Sherry began teaching Physical Education at Hononegah High School in 1972 and began her coaching career by implementing a girls’ athletic program inclusive of volleyball, basketball, softball, track & field, and bowling. She held the position of head coach in volleyball for her entire 30 year career and led two of her teams to the state tournament.

Sherry retired from coaching in 2002 and from teaching in 2004. She has spent the past eight summers working for the Rockford Park District at Lockwood Park and she spends her winters in Arizona living her cowgirl dream and riding her quarterhorse, Bayer.

Her sister, Cindy Diamond, was also a part of the 2014 Hall of Fame induction class.
