Rock Valley College Athletics

Bill Finch was a standout two-sport athlete during his time on the gridiron and baseball field at Rock Valley College in the mid-1970s. On the football field, Finch led the Trojans to unprecedented success, earning numerous accolades in both seasons. He was named the team’s Defensive MVP, an All-Conference selection, and an All-American in both 1974 and 1976.
Demonstrating his versatility, he also served as the team’s primary punter and placekicker. Finch was equally successful on the diamond, where he was a key player for the RVC baseball team. He was recognized as the team MVP and an All-Conference selection in both 1974 and 1975.
Upon graduating from RVC, Bill continued his academic career at Illinois State University. He continued to play semi-professional baseball for the Rockford Blackhawk’s and the Beloit Blues and had a tryout with the Milwaukee Brewers. He later embarked on a successful professional career, recently retiring after 37 years of service at Bearing Headquarters.
