Josh was a two-time NJCAA All-American and All-Conference selection for #1 doubles and, along with fellow 2015 Hall of Fame inductee Justin Timm, won back-to-back national championships at #1 doubles. As freshman in 2000, the duo went 19-1 at #1 doubles and followed that up with a perfect 21-0 record at #1 doubles as sophomores in 2001. Josh Gesner and Justin Timm remain the only doubles team in NJCAA Division III history to win back-to-back national championships.

As a sophomore, Josh also went 21-2 at #1 singles and was All-Conference and conference champion.

After graduating from RVC, Josh went on to earn his bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Northern Illinois University. He has worked as a Sheriff’s Deputy for the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Department for the last eight years. At his former precinct he was a Precinct Committeeman and is still involved in local politics with the Republican party.

Josh and his wife Laurian are the proud parents of a 14-month old son, Jackson, and a newborn son named Patton. Patton is named after the great American General George S. Patton as Josh is an avid reader of American history.

“My experience at RVC is one I will always cherish,” said Josh. “It is something I will be able to tell my sons about. Winning back-to-back #1 doubles titles is something that had never been done before and it’s something I am very proud of.”
