Pete Lonsway came to Rock Valley College in in 1967 as a teacher of Physical Education and made an impact on the athletic department as the head men's tennis coach and assistant football coach.  

Pete's first tennis team captured the conference and Region IV championships.  When Pete stepped away from the tennis program after ten years he held the highest winning percentage of any Rock Valley College coach. On the gridiron Pete served as defensive coordinator for ten seasons.  During that time his defenses were nationally ranked five times and led the nation in passing defense in 1969.  

During his time at Rock Valley College, Pete served in various administrative capacities such as Director of Community Service Projects where he developed successful community education seminars and athletics clinics.  In 1977 he was named Director of Admissions and Records and was very active in state and national admissions organizations.   

Pete officially retired from the college in 1998 but remains active through his work with the RVC Athletics Booster Club.
