Hall of Fame
Pat was a three-sport athlete for RVC who would go on to have a hugely successful volleyball coaching career spanning 40 years.
After getting her associates degree from RVC, she later earned a B.S. in Education from Northern Illinois University where she also played volleyball in 1974, and began coaching volleyball as an assistant coach at Rockford East High School in 1976. Coaching stops along the way included assistant volleyball coach at Rockford East (1976-1996), assistant volleyball coach at Rockford College (1997-2004), freshman volleyball head coach at Rockford East (2005-2006), head coach for Rockford Lutheran 8th grade volleyball (state champs and undefeated season), varsity volleyball assistant coach at Rockford East (2008), and head varsity volleyball coach for Belvidere North High School (2009-2014). In her final season at the helm in 2014, Pat earned NIC-10 coach of the year honors.
Pat also directed countless youth volleyball camps and clinics over the years throughout the region and she served as volleyball/athletics coordinator for the Rockford Park District (2001-2015). She also coached and chaperoned as a People to People Sports Ambassador coach in Holland (summers of 2006 & 2007) and in Vienna (summer of 2007) for the Friendship Games.
Pat never married or had children, but she was a wonderful aunt to 10 nieces and nephews. She believed in God, family, and the importance of teamwork. She was humble, caring, and dedicated her life to promoting her love of volleyball to people of all ages.
Pat passed away on November 12, 2015, following a long battle with cancer.
Her legacy will live on through all of the lives she touched and now as a part of the Rock Valley College Athletics Hall of Fame.Â
