Lisa played volleyball as a freshman and softball for two seasons at RVC and was named to the All-State team as a third baseman.

After graduating from Rock Valley College she received her bachelor’s degree in Education from Northern Illinois University where she also received several awards including: Outstanding Female Student of the Year; Outstanding Education Student of the Year; Department of Kinesiology and Exercise Science Outstanding Student of the Year; Illinois Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance Student of the Year; and Lela Trager Full-Academic Scholarship Award. She was also selected to be the student speaker at commencement.

Lisa attained her Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction in 2002 and then completed her Degree of Advanced Studies in Educational Leadership with a Type 075 in 2004.

She has coached softball, volleyball, and golf in the Harlem School District and while working as the assistant varsity softball coach for Harlem High School in 1999, the Huskies won the Illinois state tournament. Lisa went on to become head softball coach at Harlem in 2004-2005 where her team made it to the Illinois state finals and she was named Northern Illinois Conference Girls’ Coach of the Year.

Lisa has taught in the Harlem School District, served as an Assistant Principal at Harlem Middle School, and has spent the last eight years as the Principal of Loves Park Elementary School. She has a wonderful family which consists of her partner Lynn, her parents Tom and Sharon, her sister Julie, her brother-in-law Mitchell, her brother Jim, and her sister-in-law Lerma. 

“Since Coach Gerry McDermott stopped by my elementary school and shared that she was nominating me for this honor I’ve taken time to reminisce about the glory days of RVC,” said Lisa. “Those two years shaped me like no other years in my life.  I’m so honored to be accepting this prestigious award.  It’s a true honor.”
