Tierra McGowan in her two seasons at Rock Valley College played in 66 games making 62 starts. McGowan totaled 42 assist, 74 steals, 149 blocks, 828 rebounds and 1,022 points in her career at RVC.
McGowan helped orchestrate the Golden Eagles to a national championship and a 33-2 overall record during her sophomore season in 2016-17. At the national tournament in Utica (NY), the Chicago native averaged 21 points per game and 15 rebounds on the 2016-17 season. In the national title game versus defending champion Roxbury (MA), she posted her third 20-20 contest of the season, tallying 20 points and 20 rebounds to earn tournament MVP honors. The 6’4” center finished the season scoring in double-figures in 28 straight games, leveling her season average at 20.7 points per outing. McGowan surpassed 20 points in 20 contests and recorded a double-double in points and rebounds in 28 games.
On the glass, McGowan averaged 14.1 rebounds and surpassed 20 rebounds six times in a contest. McGowan was also inducted into the Region IV Hall of Fame this past year as well. McGowan would go on to play at Morehead State after Rock Valley, appearing in 50 games starting 44 of them. McGowan in her two years would score 442 points and grab 501 rebounds as an Eagle.
