Mickey Myles is considered the best defensive player that RVC Athletics Hall of Fame coach Chuck Behrends ever coached. He finished his RVC career with 765 points and 554 rebounds.
After leaving RVC, Mickey went on to play for Valley City State University, an NAIA team located in Valley City, North Dakota. At VCSU, Mickey helped lead the Vikings to a conference championship in 1979-80 and was an all-conference selection that year. He was also named team MVP in both his seasons at VCSU and was inducted into their Hall of Fame in 1992.

Mickey earned his bachelor’s degree in Sociology/Psychology from VCSU in 1980. He worked in social services for 35 years in Cook County and at the State of Illinois Department of Corrections. He is currently a House Supervisor at a Recovery Center in Fargo, North Dakota. He has volunteered his time as a board member for High Ridge YMCA and as a basketball coach for St. Phillip’s Lutheran and High Ridge.

Mickey and his wife Louanna have four children, ages 29, 27, 26, and 21, and three grandchildren, ages 10, 6, and 1 ½.

Of his RVC Athletics Hall of Fame induction, Mickey stated, “This honor gives me the opportunity to thank the Rockford community and RVC for making my life and the lives of my friends better. I feel like I played just two years ago, but it’s been 42 years and now I’m going to Disneyland and I’m taking my grandchildren!”
