Duey Hoff has made an impact on RVC athletics in every way possible for over 45 years. He played both basketball and baseball at RVC (1968-1970) and would even return to coach the men’s basketball team,  first as an Assistant Coach in 1973 and later as Head Coach from 1983-1985. From 1974-1983, was Head Coach for basketball at Pecatonica High School, Plano High School, and Batavia High School. He also coached cross country, sophomore football, and girls softball at the high school level.

In 1981, Duey coached a group of high school all-stars and toured Germany with a record of 7-2. He was also the 1981 Aurora Beacon News Coach of the Year. He was also Assistant and Head Coach with one of his mentors (John McDougall) in the summer of 1983 and 1984 for the Prairie State Games, which were organized by Governor Jim Thompson.

On the basketball court, Duey’s specialty was rebounding and defense. He led the 1969-1970 teams in rebounds with a 13.1 average and a career average over 10 rebounds per game in helping his teams to back-to-back 23 win seasons. In 1969-1970, he was first team all-conference on a state qualifying team.
At Elmhurst College, Duey was a two-year starter in basketball and baseball. He flourished in baseball, earning all-conference honors for two years, as well as MVP and team captain.

He received his Master’s degree in Education from NIU in 1983.

Duey’s impact on the RVC Athletics program as Booster Club President can hardly be measured. His leadership has been valuable and vital to the success of RVC Athletics for nearly 25 years. It was Duey who launched the Booster Club’s successful annual Taste the Hops fundraiser, which will return for its 12th year in 2015. He also organizes the Booster Club’s annual RVC Golf Classic fundraiser every summer as well as other small events throughout the year. Behind his leadership, the Booster Club has been able to help the RVC Athletics program purchase national championship rings (for 13 teams since 1996) and help fund spring trips for the baseball, softball, and tennis teams over the years.

Duey works as a realtor for Dickerson & Nieman Realtors where he has been honored as a Silver, Gold and Diamond award winner from 1999-2014. He was named Rookie of the Year in 1999 and for the past 12 years he has been a mentor to over 40 new agents. He has served for 10 years as a Special Olympics committee member and for four years as BNI (Business Networking International) President and committee member.

Duey is married to Jane Hawkins-Hoff and together they have five children and six grandchildren. Together the Hoffs are active in many community events and local non-profit organizations.Â
