Larry Sidney is hailed by former men’s basketball coach, and RVC Athletics Hall of Fame member, Chuck Behrends as being one of the two best basketball players he ever coached in his 20 years at RVC.  When Behrends retired in 1985, Larry was still the second highest career scorer in RVC basketball history with 1,173 career points (18.0 ppg) and still held the record for most points scored in a single season (672). Larry was an All-Conference and All-Region selection for the 1969-70 season.

He went on to play on a basketball scholarship for Arkansas Tech University from 1971 to 1973 and was the team’s second leading scorer.

For the last 21 years, Larry has worked as a Behavior Specialist and Teaching Assistant for Hathaway-Sycamores Child and Family Services in Altadena, CA. He has been officiating basketball since 1985 and officiated Division II college basketball for 10 years.

“My experience at RVC was the best thing that ever happened to me,” said Larry. “I had one of the greatest, smartest coaches in the college world. I played with some of the hardest working, dedicated athletes I ever saw. Education wise, I had many good teachers who cared.”
