Golf Coach (1966-1967)

Swimming Coach (1967-1969)

Norman Matzl joined Rock Valley College in July of 1966 and embarked on a 22 year career of impacting the lives of students at RVC.

Norm spent three years as the swimming and golf coach but it was on the gridiron where Norm made his mark.  He served 15 years as the head football coach and was named the Region IV Coach of the Year in 1978 when his team won the state championship.  Norm's undefeated 1973 team was equally successful and finished ranked seventh in the nation.

Norm also contributed to the college by helping to develop the college's wellness program, the Fitness Club, and in the planning of a Wellness Center.  He coached hundreds of young people in his time at Rock Valley College and was a popular figure with students in an out of the classroom. Norm officially retired from the college in 1998.
