Heidi Hutchison began her career at Rock Valley College in 1993 and spent time leading three Rock Valley College teams to unprecedented success.  

Heidi made her mark as the head coach of the Rock Valley College volleyball team.  She was a two-time National Coach of the Year after leading Rock Valley to consecutive national championships in 1996 and 1997.  Heidi saw four of her players honored as All-Americans in those national title seasons.  In six seasons her volleyball teams posted a 130-89 record.  

Heidi also made an impact leading the women's basketball program at RVC.  Her 1994-1995 squad reached the NJCAA National tournament for the first time in school history, finishing third.  For her accomplishments she was named the Region IV Coach of the Year.   

Heidi passed away in 1999 after a long battle with cancer.  To honor her legacy, the NJCAA Division III Volleyball Coach of the Year Award was renamed in her honor beginning in 1999.  In 2009 Heidi was elected to the NJCAA Region IV Hall of Fame by a vote of region athletic directors.
