Lindle attended RVC from 1967-1969 and played both baseball and basketball. As a freshman in baseball, he batted .468 and also led the team in stolen bases and runs scored. His .468 batting average was tops for the entire state that year at the junior college level. For his efforts he earned All-Conference honors and was nominated for All-American honors. In his sophomore baseball season, Lindle batted .375 and finished his RVC career with a .425 batting average while earning All-Conference honors once again.
 
That same year in basketball, Lindle averaged 13 points per game and was named All-Conference while helping lead his team to a third place finish at the state tournament.
 
Lindle went on to play baseball on scholarship at Northern Illinois University where he batted .372 as a senior and earned All-Conference honors for the first NIU baseball team to receive an NCAA tournament bid. Lindle was elected to the NIU Athletics Hall of Fame in 2008.
 
After graduating from NIU, Lindle coached baseball at Waubonsie Valley High School where he was named Aurora Beacon News Area Coach of the Year twice and IHSA Region 4 Baseball Coach of the Year in 1989. Since 2001, he has been an Associate Scout for the Chicago White Sox.
 
Lindle retired from teaching in 2006 and lives in Yorkville with his wife, Susan. They have two sons, Matt and Brad.
