W-Soccer: Golden Eagles Tie at College of DuPage
In a highly anticipated contest from last year's Region IV Championship match, it was the stingy defense that lead to 110 minutes of soccer ending in a draw. Rock Valley College Women's Soccer tied College of DuPage 0-0 in Glen Ellyn, IL. The Golden Eagles are now 1-2-1 overall.
"Two teams battled and fought so hard," stated Head Women's Soccer Coach
Carrie Barker. "DuPage is a tough environment to play at. They are well organized and a quality team. We competed all night long."
The Golden Eagles attempted 21 shots on goal, including 5 in the overtime frames. Last year, the Golden Eagles lost only 2 matches - both at the hands of the Chaparrals. The Region IV Championship ended in a 1-0 score with College of DuPage scoring in the match's 104th minute.
"We had some great opportunities to find the back of the net," said Goalkeeper
Shannel Boettcher. "The game did not end the way we wanted it to but a tie is better than a loss. It was a battle all the way."
The Chaparrals will visit Rock Valley College for a rematch on Friday, September 29th.
