ROCKFORD, Ill.— Rock Valley College Head Softball Coach/Athletic Director
Darin Monroe has announced the addition of former Golden Eagles standouts Madison Carlson and Jenna Davis as Assistant Softball Coaches, bringing two accomplished alumni back to the program.
Both Carlson and Davis were pivotal members of the Rock Valley program before transferring to compete at the NCAA Division I level for Northern Illinois University. Their return adds experience, leadership and a strong connection to the tradition and culture of Rock Valley College softball.
"We are incredibly thrilled to welcome Madison and Jenna back home," said Head Coach
Darin Monroe. "Both of them epitomize what it means to be a Golden Eagle. They won at the highest level here, went on to achieve great success at the Division I level, and now they bring that elite experience back to mentor our current student-athletes. Their familiarity with our system, passion for the game, and leadership will be invaluable as we continue to look to compete for national championships."
Championship Pedigree Returns to Rockford
Carlson and Davis were foundational pieces during their playing careers at RVC. Notably, both athletes were named to the All-Tournament team during the Golden Eagles' historic run to their eighth consecutive NJCAA National Championship in 2022.
- Madison Carlson (Pitching Coach): Carlson was an exceptional right-handed pitcher for RVC before transferring to NIU. At NIU, she capped an outstanding senior campaign in 2026 by earning First Team All-MAC honors, posting an 11-2 record with 80 strikeouts in 111 innings pitched. Her experience in the circle will directly benefit the Golden Eagles' pitching staff.
- Jenna Davis (Infield/Hitting Coach): Davis was a premier infielder/slapper. After earning All-American honors at RVC, she transferred to NIU, where she was named to the First Team All-MAC in 2025. During that dominant 2025 season, she led the Huskies with a .380 batting average and 68 hits, while setting the school record for most runs scored in a single game (5). She will focus heavily on developing the Golden Eagles' offense and infielders.
With two Rock Valley College alumni now joining the coaching staff after completing their playing careers at Northern Illinois University, the Golden Eagles enter the upcoming season with additional experience and a continued commitment to maintaining the program's championship tradition.
