M-Basketball: #1 Rock Valley College improves to 26-3 with convincing win over College of DuPage

Box Score The Rock Valley College men's basketball program improved their record to 26-3 on the season on Wednesday night by defeating College of DuPage 80-61.

The win improves Rock Valley to 10-3 in the conference and clinches sole first place for NJCAA DIII programs in the N4C leading into the Region IV tournament. College of DuPage falls to 17-10 overall on the season. In the Craig Doty-era dating back to 2012, the Golden Eagles are now 10-0 over DuPage with an average margin of victory of over 20 points against the storied program who won the 2002 National Championship and were National Runner-Up in 2000 and 2003.

Four Golden Eagles scored 70 of Rock Valley's 80 points led by Kooper Glick (Columbus, IN) and LT Davis (Rockford, IL) with 20 points each. Glick added 8 rebounds. Elijah Williams (Chicago, IL) scored 19 points and ripped down a game-high 12 rebounds. Dalton Menke (Winnebago, IL) chipped in with 11 points.

"Despite not shooting the ball very well we were able to take control of the game behind our rebounding effort," head coach Craig Doty stated as Rock Valley out-rebounded DuPage 50-24 on the evening. "We are more fun to watch when we are knocking down shots; however, we are more effective when we are rebounding and defending. We are really special when we are doing all of it."

The Golden Eagles entered the contest ranked #1 in the NJCAA D3 poll for an unprecedented 22 consecutive national polls dating back to October 27th, 2014, or 487 days.  RVC led 40-26 at halftime.

Rock Valley College is back in action on Saturday at home vs. Wright College. Saturday will also be sophomore night and the Golden Eagles will induct 11 into the RVC Hall of Fame. All the action starts at 1:00 PM with the RVC women playing Highland CC. The men are scheduled to tip-off at 3:00 PM with the honoring of their sophomores before the game. At halftime of the men's game the 11 newest Hall-of-Famers will be honored.
