ROCKFORD, Ill. – Rock Valley College volleyball put together an impressive five-match stretch, earning four victories while receiving contributions from throughout the Golden Eagles' lineup.
RVC picked up wins over College of DuPage, Lincoln Land Community College, Danville Area Community College and Joliet Junior College, with its only loss of the stretch coming against Parkland College.
The Golden Eagles opened with a 3-0 sweep of College of DuPage behind a balanced offensive performance. Sonia Preckwici and Sydney Schmidt led the attack with 11 kills apiece, while Elena Ercogin added eight kills.
Sofia Medina directed the offense with 25 assists, and Mia Stubbs added 11. Defensively, Julia Abadde led RVC with 25 digs, followed by Rhema Pace with 23. Preckwici contributed 13 digs to go along with her team-high 11 kills.
Rock Valley faced a tougher test against Lincoln Land but came away with a 3-2 victory. Medina and Preckwici each recorded 10 kills, while Schmidt added eight. Medina also finished with 20 assists.
Preckwici impacted the match in several areas, adding four service aces and 13 digs. Pace led the Golden Eagles defensively with 18 digs.
RVC followed the five-set victory with a 3-0 sweep of Danville. Preckwici turned in one of the top offensive performances of the stretch, putting down 17 kills while adding four aces.
Medina distributed 26 assists and Stubbs added 10. Preckwici also recorded nine digs, while Abadde finished with eight and Kaelyn McConkey added seven.
The Golden Eagles' lone setback came against Parkland, which earned a 3-0 victory. Medina led RVC with 10 kills and also recorded 18 assists. Preckwici added six kills, while Stubbs contributed nine assists.
McConkey led the defensive effort against Parkland with 14 digs. Preckwici finished with 10 digs, Schmidt added six and Jordan Davenport recorded three service aces.
Rock Valley responded to the loss with a 3-0 victory over Joliet to close out the stretch. Preckwici led the attack with nine kills, while Davenport contributed eight.
Medina and Stubbs combined to direct the offense, with Medina recording 20 assists and Stubbs adding 17. Stubbs also contributed four service aces. Pace led RVC with 16 digs, while Preckwici and Medina each finished with eight.
The Golden Eagles finished the five-match stretch 4-1 with three straight-set victories. RVC showed balance throughout the run, receiving offensive production from multiple hitters while Medina and Stubbs consistently directed the attack and several
Golden Eagles contributed defensively in the back row.
Rock Valley will look to carry that momentum into its upcoming schedule as the Golden Eagles continue the 2026 season.
