Rockford, Ill. — Rock Valley College volleyball put together a strong day on the court, earning victories over Morton College and Kankakee Community College behind a balanced offensive attack, strong defensive play and contributions throughout the lineup.
The Golden Eagles opened the day with a 3-0 sweep of Morton before following it with a 3-1 victory over Kankakee.
Against Morton, Rock Valley received production from several different attackers. Sydney Schmidt and Sonia Preducaj led the Golden Eagles with nine kills apiece, while Jordan Davenport and Nici Bokuniewicz each added eight kills. Julia Abbade contributed seven kills to round out a balanced RVC attack.
The Golden Eagles' setters kept the offense moving efficiently throughout the match. Sofia Medina recorded 19 assists, while Mia Stubbs added 17.
Defensively, Rhema Pace anchored the back row with 25 digs, while Abbade added 15. At the net, Preducaj and Bokuniewicz each recorded two solo blocks as Rock Valley completed the straight-set victory.
Rock Valley carried that momentum into its matchup with Kankakee, where the Golden Eagles again showcased their offensive depth.
Preducaj led the attack with 16 kills, while Davenport finished close behind with 14. Schmidt added 10 kills, giving Rock Valley three players in double figures.
Medina directed the offense with 31 assists, while Stubbs added 14. Stubbs also contributed four service aces, with Medina adding three.
Pace turned in another impressive defensive performance, recording 25 digs for the second consecutive match. Medina added 11 digs, while Stubbs and Schmidt each finished with 10.
Rock Valley was also a force at the net. Schmidt recorded three solo blocks and five block assists, while Medina and Preducaj each contributed three solo blocks.
The two victories highlighted the Golden Eagles' ability to receive contributions throughout the roster. Rock Valley combined a balanced attack with consistent setting, strong back-row defense and an effective presence at the net to secure both victories.
With a sweep of Morton followed by a four-set victory over Kankakee, the Golden Eagles came away from the day with a pair of strong performances as they continue through the 2026 season.
