Rockford, IL: Men's and Women's Basketball are gearing up for their respective postseason runs. Both teams will continue their season's this week in the Region 4 tournament.
The women come into the postseason as the #1 seed in District A and the overall #1 seed for the region, while the men come into the tournament as the #2 seed in District A and the overall #4 seed for the region. Â
The Rock Valley College Women come into the region tournament with a 22 and 8 overall record and are looking to continue their hot play. The Golden Eagles have won 19 of their last 21 games heading into their first round match up. They will start the Region 4 tournament Thursday at Rock Valley at 5 pm against the #16 seed Elgin Community College Spartans. This will be the first match up between the two teams this season Elgin brings a 3-22 record into the game. Winner of the game would go onto face the winner of #8 College of DuPage and #9 South Suburban College, with a chance to play for the region championship on March 8th.Â
The Rock Valley College Men come into the Region 4 tournament with a record of 19 and 11 record and will face #13 seed Illinois Valley this Thursday at Rock Valley at 7 pm. The Golden Eagles are looking to beat the Eagles for the second time in less than 7 days and advance to the District A semi-finals. If RVC were to advance to the semifinals they would play the winner of #5 Morton College and #12 Oakton College. Â
Rock Valley will host the Men's and Women's Region 4 Semi-Finals and Finals for District A and B. The Region 4 Women's Semi-Finals will be held Saturday March 1st, with the Men's Semi-Finals held Sunday March 2nd. Â Both the Men and Women's Finals for District A and B will be held Saturday March 8th.Â
