Rock Valley Tops College of Lake County, Advances to Region 4 Semifinal at Black Hawk

ROCKFORD, Ill. — The Rock Valley College Women's Soccer team recorded their 11th shutout of the season in a dominant 2-0 victory over the College of Lake County on Saturday, advancing to the Region 4 Tournament Semifinal. The Golden Eagles came out firing, nearly opening the scoring in the opening minutes as a Rachel Busker shot rattled off the crossbar before the rebound struck the post. The breakthrough came soon after, when Busker delivered a perfectly weighted ball into the channel for Emilia Arias, who glided past her defender and squared a pass across the box for Kassandra Jimenez to slot home the opening goal. Minutes later, Rock Valley doubled their lead following a strong midfield buildup. Joscelyn Posada drove through multiple defenders before sending in a precise cross that found Arias, who finished first-time out of the air to make it 2–0.

RVC continued to apply pressure throughout the match, striking the woodwork multiple times and forcing several key saves from the CLC goalkeeper. The Golden Eagles controlled possession from start to finish, firing 25 shots while allowing only two. Goalkeeper Kristina Vinger was called upon once in the second half, securing the team's 11th clean sheet of the year.

With the win, Rock Valley advances to the Region 4 Tournament Semifinal, where they will face NJCAA Division II No. 20 Black Hawk College on Wednesday evening at United Township High School. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
