Golden Eagles Women's Soccer Returns to Winning Form with Dominant Performances Over Triton and CLC

The Rock Valley College Women's Soccer team returned to its winning ways last week with a pair of impressive victories, defeating Triton College 6–0 and College of Lake County 9–0. With the two wins, the Golden Eagles improve to 12–1 overall and 7–1 in Region IV play.

In Wednesday's matchup against Triton College, Rock Valley applied consistent pressure from the opening whistle, breaking through just 12 minutes into the match. The Golden Eagles doubled their advantage before halftime on a composed finish from Izze Fritz inside the penalty area.

RVC continued its dominance in the second half, adding four more goals while firing 20 shots on target. Despite the onslaught, the Triton goalkeepers combined for 11 saves to keep the scoreline respectable.

On Saturday, the Golden Eagles carried that momentum into a showdown with a strong College of Lake County squad. Rock Valley jumped out to a 3–0 lead in the first half before scoring six more early in the second frame, ending the match in the 70th minute due to the NJCAA's new goal limit rule.

Head Coach Kevan Watkins credited his team's response and attacking improvement following the recent setback:

"It was good seeing the girls bouncing back from a loss," said Watkins. "We had a little dip in form where we were creating opportunities but failing to capitalize. Over the last week we focused on our movement from the middle to the final third. Having a bit more focus on the final ball and being a bit more clinical in front of goal is something we can take with us into the last month of the regular season."

The Golden Eagles now turn their attention to a key Region IV matchup as they travel to face Joliet Junior College, the No. 5-ranked team in the NJCAA Division III National Poll.
