Women's Basketball: Golden Eagles Take 16 Game Win Streak Into Break

Lake Worth, FL: The Golden Eagles are heading into the semester break riding a 16 game win streak to stay unbeaten after a pair of wins in the Panther Holiday Classic in Lake Worth, FL. The Golden Eagles ranked 5th took down the 9th ranked Lakers from Lake Land College and region 24 on Friday before finishing the weekend with a win over region 12 opponent Wayne County Community College on Saturday. Rock Valley is currently 16-0 heading into the holiday break.

In day one of the Panther Classic Rock Valley would take on #9 Lake Land. The Golden Eagles would take an early lead in the 1st quarter 20-10 and would never look back going on to win the game by a score of 80-51. The Golden Eagles were led by Maya Mitchell with 21 points and 4 steals, Jasmyn Hale 20 points 9 rebounds and Elli Teubert with 10 points, 4 rebounds to round out double digit scoring. "This was a major statement win for our program this past weekend. To go out there and just physically dominate like our ladies did for 40 mins was amazing to see." Stated Head Coach Darryl Watkins

Day two would see RVC face off against Wayne County Community College. The Golden Eagles would jump out to an early first half lead 44-20 and would never trail in the game to finish the Panther Holiday Classic 2-0. Leaders from the game were sophomore Maya Mitchell with 14 points and 3 rebounds, McKenna Williams 14 points, 10 rebounds, and Jasmyn Hale with 10 points 9 rebounds. Freshman Mia Moore would lead the Golden Eagles in scoring with 19 points.

UP NEXT
RVC will be off until after the New Year on January 6th when they return to The Nest to host the annual Rumble in the Rock event. Where they will take on Region 24 opponent Illinois Central at 1:45pm.
