Malta, IL: The #11 Golden Eagles opened up the 2023-24 season in mid-season form. The Golden Eagles defeated Kishwaukee College 137-37 to eclipse the century mark for the first time on the young season. RVC moves to 1-0 on the year.

The Golden Eagles jumped would be missing seven players, four serving a suspension from last season's incident against Kankakee Community College, two to injuries and one competing on the #16
th ranked Women's Soccer team that has a chance to punch their ticket to the NJCAA DII National Tournament on Saturday.
RVC controlled the game from start to finish against the Kougars, jumping out to an early 18-0 lead. The Golden Eagles would put together 72 defensive stops together forcing 35 turnovers which led to 45 points scored. "Defensively we put together a great game locking in on our half-court defense to force turnovers and hold Kishwaukee to 23% shooting from the field. On the offensive end of the court we moved the basketball extremely well playing unselfishly making the extra pass that would lead to every single look we wanted on almost every single possession." stated Watkins
The Golden Eagles did a lot of sharing in the game totaling 45 assist on 54 field goal makes for the game. RVC forced 21 turnovers while holding Kishwaukee to 21.8% shooting from the field. RVC put all six active players in double figures led by returning TOP 40 NJCAA JUCO Rising Sophmore
Maya Mitchell. Mitchell would total 26 points on 10-15 shooting from the field, gathering 23 rebounds, 13 assist, 9 steals and 4 blocks nearly missing a quadruple double on the night. With those 13 assist Maya would tie the single game individual assist record held by 2015 National Champion PG Zemoria Jernigan. Sophomore's
Alicia Bates would put together 26 points, 7 rebounds, 7 steals, and 6 assist,
Elli Teubert would record 25 points,
McKenna Williams 21 points, 15 rebounds,
Jasmyn Hale would record 21 points, 9 rebounds and freshman
Mia Moore would round out the night with a triple double 18 points, 12 rebounds and 12 assist.
With last night's victory the Golden Eagles have broken the school records for most points scored in a single game with 137 and largest margin of victory with the 100 point victory.
"This is an exciting group to be around every day. They work hard do everything we ask of them from a coaching staff and they truly enjoy the game. This should be an exciting season."

The Golden Eagles will return for the home opener next Tuesday November 7th as they host to McHenry County College. Game time is set for a 5:00pm tip-off. The Golden Eagles will also be celebrating the 2013 National Championship team next Saturday November 10
th. The Golden Eagles finished the season with a sparkling 32-2 record and a second straight NJCAA national championship trophy.Â
