Women's Basketball: Golden Eagles Topple Spartans

Elgin, IL: The #11 Golden Eagles had a slow start to the game against Region 4 opponent Elgin Community College but would put together an explosive 2nd half to defeat the Spartans 95-37 and move to 4-0 on the young season.

RVC would jump out on the Spartans with an early 13-0 lead before Elgin would put together a run of their own to finish out the quarter only down 6 points and would eventually only trail by 8 heading into halftime. "We started the game off hot and then became complacent with what we had done early. We cant do that if we want to continue to get better on the season." stated Head Coach Darryl Watkins

After halftime the Golden Eagles would erupt and outscore the Spartans by 50 points. "This was the effort and focus we were looking for from the ladies. When we are locked in on the defensive end of the floor we have shown we can be a special team." Stated Watkins.  Maya Mitchell would put together another solid game of 21 points 5 assist. Freshman Haley Warren had a breakout game scoring 16 points going 5-9 from behind the arch. Mia Moore would have another solid outing as the freshman would score 13 points. Sophomore Elli Teubert would score 11 points and grab 8 rebounds, Bre'Nazjah Davis would return to the lineup for the Golden Eagles scoring 13 points 4 rebounds and Sophomore Carly LaMay would control the tempo from the point guard position grabbing 10 rebounds, dishing out 5 assist and swatting away 2 blocks.
