Golden Eagles Set School Record

The RVC Women's Basketball picked up two more wins to finish off the first week of the regular season. The Golden Eagles defeated Kishwaukee College 105-43, Marshalltown Community College 133-54. The Golden Eagles improve to 3-0 on the young season and eclipse the century mark now for the 3rd time on this season.

"We have been hanging our hat on the defensive end of the court that dictates everything for us." stated Head Women's Basketball Coach Darryl Watkins.

The Golden Eagles jumped out early and controlled the game from start to finish against the Kougars "On the offensive end of the court we moved the basketball extremely well and got the looks that we wanted almost every possession which showed with our 33 assist on 42 field goal makes for the game" stated Watkins. RVC forced 21 turnovers while holding Kishwaukee to 21.8% shooting from the field. RVC put five players in double figures. Davis with 14 points, Brandon and Hughes with 13 points apiece, Blank with 11 points and Mitchell with 10 points.

On Saturday the Golden Eagles would celebrate the 2012 National Championship team in fashion. RVC would go on to break the school single game scoring record in front of the 2012 National Champions. It was another efficient night for the Golden Eagles as RVC had 32 assist on 47 field goal makes shooting 55% from the field. "We are playing really unselfish basketball right now and it's just a beautiful thing to watch and see how our team is really for one another." Stated Watkins.

The Golden Eagles put seven players in double figures as they scored a school record 133 points. Blank with 21 points, Teubert with 16 points, Rich with 15 points, Davis with 14 points, Hughes with 13 points, Mitchell with a double double 11 points, 10 rebounds and Williams with 10 points.

The Golden Eagles are on the road Tuesday as they head to McHenry County College. Game time is set for a 5:15pm tip-off.
