ROCKFORD, Ill. –
The Golden Eagles' two first-half goals were enough to knock off visiting Oakton on Saturday. The win moves Rock Valley into fourth place in District B of the Region IV playoffs standings. Rock Valley once again controlled much of the match early with possession.

Generated from that early stronghold in possession, the Golden Eagles were able to apply pressure on Oakton and generated five shots forcing the Owls' goalkeeper into two big saves. Freshman Brady Williams would open the scoring with a 19th minute scorcher from 25 yards out with Max Rebori providing the clever helper.

With a quarter of an hour left to play in the first half, Julio Davila was tackled inside the box earning a penalty for the home side. Roberto Davila converted the penalty to put the hosts up 2-0. The goal places the elder Davila just two behind second all-time (Alberto Martinez, 19) and one point behind second all-time for points (Alberto Martinez, 51).

HALF TIME: Rock Valley 2-0 Oakton

Following the halftime intermission, Rock Valley gave away two near chances before finding their composure and settled into the half nicely. Rebori found himself in a one-on-one chance with the goalkeeper, but the Owls' goalkeeper rose to the occasion. Ernesto Padua made another significant save on Isaac Love's point-blank attempt.

Ten minutes in and two missed chances, Oakton finally applied enough pressure to produce a few dangerous opportunities, including a rocket from 30 yards out from Morias Lee that struck the crossbar and into the net to cut the deficit in half with just under a half hour to play.

Rock Valley missed a few more opportunities to put the game out of reach, but missed near-gimmie shots, or saw their shots parried away by the Owls' goalkeeper.

"[It was a] good win today," said head coach Tim Romanello following the match. "The guys came out and took advantage of our early form and rhythm. Oakton made some good adjustments on us in the second half, but kudos to our guys for seeing the game out."

Alyas Fritz made six saves and earned his sixth win of the season. Fritz' 90 minutes moves the freshman goalkeeper within 33 minutes behind 6th place for minutes in a season.
