Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

#3 Golden Eagles Rout Wolves

Rockford, IL- #3 RVC Women's Basketball comes away with its tenth straight win Wednesday night 86-57 over NJCAA DIII Joliet Junior College. The Golden Eagles improve to 20-6 overall and (10-0) in N4C.

The Golden Eagles started the game down 2-0 but would quickly gain the lead and not look back off a Marissa Kershner 3pt shot that would jump start the hot shooting from the 3 point line in the 1st quarter shooting 5-12 from behind the arch building an early 19 point lead. "There is a comfort level when you're at home, you have your crowd behind you, and it showed in the way we shot the basketball." Stated Darryl Watkins.

The second quarter the Golden Eagles would continue to build their lead up to 23 points over the visiting Wolves before finishing out the half with a 48-30 half time lead. "Our ladies were locked in on the defensive end of the court in the first half. They followed the scout to a point and it showed in the lead we were able to build." Stated Watkins

The second half would see the Golden Eagles continue to show their dominance building their lead to the largest of the night at 31 points. "It's a thing of beauty when we are clicking on all cylinders offensively and defensively. We were able to win the rebounding battle 59-46, we put together 26 assists on 32 field goal makes which is huge and shows the unselfish play that we preach. We shot 70% from the free-throw line as a team, took 5 or more charges which was big in building momentum and we were able to force 24 turnovers all while putting together 62 defensive stops. "Stated Watkins
