M-Basketball: Winning Streak Ends at 10 for #3 RVC
Box Score Despite shooting an ice cold 19-60 (31.7%) from the field, the #3 Rock Valley College still had a chance to win in the game's final minutes. The Golden Eagles came up just short, falling 69-65 to the visiting Milwaukee Area Technical College Stormers. RVC drops to 16-5 overall, and 4-1 in N4C play.
After a rocky start to the game, the Golden Eagles got on track and managed to tie the game at 32 entering the half courtesy of a 30-foot three-point field goal at the buzzer from
Dalton Menke. RVC managed to dig themselves another hole after the break, and were playing catch-up for the rest of the game. Costly turnovers and timely Milwaukee Tech baskets ultimately ended the potential Golden Eagle comeback.
"We were a special kind of disappointing this evening," stated Head Men's Basketball
Evan Lavery. "We turned the ball over entirely too much against their 2-3 zone. We competed very hard, but only in stretches. We didn't pay enough attention to detail on scout specific materials. I did a lousy job of preparing us for this game."
The Golden Eagles were led by sophomores
Jace Kitchen (24 points, 5 rebounds) and
Dalton Menke (16 points, 4 rebounds). Kitchen and Menke combined for 11 made three-point field goals in the game.
