M-Basketball: #1 Golden Eagles Open Up Season with 64-50 Win Over Cedar Valley
Despite a slow start offensively, RVC Men's Basketball was able to pull off a 64-50 win over Cedar Valley College (TX). The Golden Eagles, who recognized their 2015-16 national championship team prior to the game, move to 1-0 this season.
"I am happy with the way our guys defended," stated Head Men's Basketball Coach
Evan Lavery. "For a majority of the game, we stuck to the game plan. Once we settled in, we were able to run our stuff and get the looks that we wanted."
The Golden Eagles entered halftime with a 32-24 advantage behind 8 points a piece from sophomores
Dalton Menke and
Alec Pena. RVC extended the 2nd half lead to as much as 20 points.
RVC was led by 22 points and 10 rebounds from
Alec Pena. Freshman guard
Malique Ross added 10 points. Cedar Valley College was led by Desmond Kennedy's 16 points.

The Golden Eagles travel to Moline, IL to take on NJCAA DII member Black Hawk College on Tuesday, November 8th. Game time is set for 7:30 PM.
