In Hoegers first season the Golden Eagles would have a historic 2023-24 season. During the year Rock Valley would complete the first undefeated regular season in program history at 30-0. The Golden Eagles would go on to win the NJCAA Region 4 DII District B Championship advancing to the NJCAA DII Women’s Basketball National tournament for the first time in program history. Coach Hoeger joins the Golden Eagle staff after spending three years as the Assistant Coach/Director of Operations at Boylan Catholic High School. He is entering his 10th season in coaching. Hoeger first coaching experience came right here at Rock Valley College where he was a student assistant coach for 2 years under previous men's basketball National Champion Head Coach Craig Doty. During Hoegers time the team went 30-5 and won the 2013-14 NJCAA DIII National Championship and during his second season the Golden Eagles finished with a 31-4 record and as NJCAA DIII National Runner's Up in 2014-15.
Hoeger followed up by transferring to NAIA Powerhouse University of St. Francis in Joliet, IL as a student assistant under Ryan Marks. During this time St. Francis picked up a huge upset win over NCAA D2 Lewis University (which included current NBA player Max Strus) and the school's first ever #1 National ranking.
Hoeger returned to the area for a short stop and was the Head Freshman Coach at Belvidere High School for one season. Coach Hoeger made one final stop at NAIA Reinhardt University in Waleska, Georgia where he received his Master's in Sports Administration and was the Director of Ops and Assistant Coach for the Men's and the Top 25 ranked Women's basketball team while the Head Coach was on paternity leave. "I am excited to return to a place with so many memories and especially for the chance to reunite with and learn from an incredible coach like Coach Watkins. I hope to help the players create special memories at The Rock and continue its long lineage of Champions and success stories."
"Coach Hoeger is a great addition to our program. He has experience at all levels of coaching, is energetic and has a love for not only for this community but this institution. We are excited for him to be home and back in The Nest." Stated Watkins
