D.J. Johnson

DJ Johnson enters his tenth season as an assistant on Darin Monroe’s staff with primary duties of working with outfielders, recruiting, and day-to-day operations. Johnson has been a member of the 2014-19, 21 staffs that have won the prestigious NFCA Junior College Division III National Coaching Staff of the Year honors.  Coach Johnson was awarded with the NFCA Assistant Coach of the Year in 2017 and 2018.

Before Rock Valley, Johnson helped create a local travel softball organization, Illinois Gold Fastpitch.  While there he served as a coach and board member. Johnson was also in charge of their organizational communications and website revitalization.  llinois Gold Fastpitch was a highly respected and competitive local travel softball team that had traveled across the country and competed in many local and national tournaments during his tenure. In his time with Illinois Gold they were nationally successful winning many National Tournaments Championships.  
Johnson is known in local communities for the time and effort he dedicates to athletics. He has taken this and used it recently by getting out on the recruiting paths to land Golden Eagles. He is an avid sports enthusiast who follows several area high school and youth athletic teams.

Johnson is a Rockton native and a 1996 graduate from Hononegah High School, where he played football, basketball and baseball. DJ is married to his wife Jeanine (18 years) and they have three children, Kylee, Tavis and Teagan.  DJ and Jeanine are residents of Roscoe, Illinois.
