Jacob's freshman year ended up with an NJCAA National Championship and being honored as an NJCAA All-American. Jacob finished 3rd at the NJCAA National Championship in Doubles with Dylan Hamil and finished in 6th as an individual. 

Jacob was a 3-year starter for Hononegah High School under Coach Brad Sommer. He has been a part of 3 Regional Championships and a member of the 2018 IHSA State Championship team and the 2017 IHSA State Runner-up team. Jacob was a member of the NIC-10 Conference Champions 3 times. Jacob has a high series of 843 and has bowled two 300 games with a high average of 228. Jacob has won the local King of the Hill Tournament and the Freeport High School Sport Shot Tournament. Jacob is also an Eagle Excellence award winner. Jacob is the son of Brad and Donna Sommer.
