Head Coach Nick Ramos enters his fourth season at the helm of the RVC Men's Basketball program in 26-27.
Ramos's first three years with Rock Valley saw the Golden Eagles post a 68-30 overall record, with a 52-16 mark in Region 4 play.
In the 25-26 season, RVC would finish the year with their best record at the NJCAA Division 2 level, posting a record of 25-8. Rock Valley would fall in the Region 4 Midwest District B Championship game to conclude their season. The Golden Eagles had four ranked wins in 25-26, with three of those wins coming against top-10 opponents in the country. The biggest win for RVC would come against #2 in the country, Parkland, where they would travel to Champaign to win 85-75. The 25-26 season would see three Golden Eagles earn All-Region honors; Jajuan Cozark and Jamarion Readus would both take home 1st team honors, while JT Samuels would be named to the 2nd team. Jajuan Cozark would also go on to earn NJCAA Division 2 All-American honors and be selected for the NJCAA All-Star Game hosted in Las Vegas, Nevada, for his fantastic play on the court. RVC would finish 20th in the national polls, their highest ranking in their Division 2 era. Coach Ramos would take home Region 4 District B Coach of the Year honors in the 25-26 season.
The 24-25 Golden Eagles finished 21-12 and 17-6 in Region 4 play after facing a gauntlet of a schedule. RVC would reach their first Region 4 Championship game in their Division 2 era, where their season would come to an end. Rock Valley was hot to end the season, winning 8 straight games leading to the Region 4 Championship, with two wins coming against ranked opponents. The big win during that stretch was an OT thriller against #24 South Suburban, which saw RVC win 93-89. The 24-25 season would see RVC big man Joel Brown take home 2nd team All-Region 4 honors. All four sophomores from the 24-25 season would move on to play at the four-year level across NAIA and NCAA D2 schools.
The 23-24 Golden Eagles finished 22-10 and 17-6 in Region 4 play, which was the most wins at the time in RVC's D2 era. Rock Valley's season would come to an end in the Region 4 District B Semi-Finals. During Ramos's first year at the helm, the Golden Eagles would go on to take down #6 in the country and defending national champion Milwaukee Area Tech on the road by a final of 81-72, which would start a 3-0 week for RVC. Ramos would go on to take HoopDirt's NJCAA Coach of the Week award for the impressive wins. Blessing Nwotite would be the lone Golden Eagle to take home All-Region honors.
Prior to Ramos taking over at Rock Valley, he was an assistant for Head Coach Tyler Bredehoeft. In his lone season as an assistant, the Golden Eagles finished 22-10 and made a Region 4 Semi-Final game. Before coming to Rock Valley, Coach Ramos spent two years at the NJCAA Division 1 level coaching at Marshalltown Community College. In each of his two years at MCC, the Tigers improved their win total, posting their most wins since 2018-19 in Ramos's final year. In his two years, Ramos coached six All-Region performers, including two 1st team All-Region performers.
Coach Ramos started his coaching career at his alma mater, Rockford University, where he was a graduate assistant from 2018-2020. He coached two First Team All-Conference players and was part of the coaching staff that led the team to their first conference tournament appearance in six years.
Coach Ramos was born in Montebello, CA, and graduated from Millennium High School in Goodyear, AZ. He attended Rockford University in Illinois from 2014-2018, where he played basketball for four years. He was awarded the 2018 NABC (National Association of Basketball Coaches) Honors Court. Coach Ramos graduated with his B.S. in Accounting and a Master's in Business Administration with a finance emphasis.
