Rock Valley Volleyball Opens Southern Trip With Pair of Four-Set Victories

Rock Valley College volleyball opened its trip with a pair of four-set victories on September 17, defeating Calhoun Community College and Enterprise State Community College to complete a 2-0 day.
The Golden Eagles began the day with a 3-1 victory over Calhoun, taking the opening two sets 25-23 and 30-28 before Calhoun responded with a 25-20 win in the third. Rock Valley closed the match emphatically in the fourth, winning 25-13 to secure the victory. RVC finished the match with 51 kills, 84 digs, six service aces and 14 total blocks.
Sonia Prekducaj led the Rock Valley attack with 17 kills while hitting .300 and added 16 digs.
Sydney Schmidt and
Elena Gregotti each recorded nine kills, while
Jordan Davenport added seven.
Rhema Pace led the defensive effort with 26 digs, with Prekducaj adding 16 and
Kaelyn McConkay finishing with 14.
The Golden Eagles' offense was directed by Sofia Medina and Mia Stubbs, who combined for 53 assists. Medina recorded 33 assists, while Stubbs added 20. Davenport also provided a strong presence at the net with five solo blocks and three block assists.
Rock Valley followed with another 3-1 victory, this time over Enterprise State Community College. After dropping the opening set 25-17, the Golden Eagles responded by winning three straight, 25-19, 25-23 and 25-18. RVC totaled 42 kills, 58 digs, 10 service aces and 13 total blocks in the victory.
Gregotti paced the attack with 12 kills on 29 attempts, while Schmidt added nine kills and Davenport finished with five.
Jasmine Glenn and Prekducaj contributed six kills apiece. Pace again led the defense with 18 digs, while Prekducaj finished with 10.
Rock Valley also created pressure from the service line. McConkay recorded six aces, while Prekducaj added two. Medina and Stubbs each handed out 15 assists as the Golden Eagles completed the comeback and finished the day with two victories.
Golden Eagles Continue Road Swing With Split on September 18

Rock Valley College volleyball continued its road swing on September 18, highlighted by a straight-set victory over Baptist University of Florida.
The Golden Eagles controlled the match against Baptist University of Florida from the opening set, earning a 3-0 victory by scores of 25-17, 25-14 and 25-23. Rock Valley finished with 35 kills on 94 attempts, 46 digs and 15.5 total blocks while holding the advantage throughout the three-set win.
Elena Gregotti led the offense with 11 kills on 28 attempts and also contributed four solo blocks and two block assists.
Jasmine Glenn added seven kills, while
Nicol Bokuniewicz and
Sonia Prekducaj each finished with five.
Sydney Schmidt contributed four kills and was a major factor at the net with three solo blocks and two block assists.
Sofia Medina directed the Golden Eagles with 17 assists and added three service aces and nine digs.
Mia Stubbs recorded nine assists and five digs, while
Rhema Pace led the back row with 18 digs.
Rock Valley also faced Lurleen B. Wallace Community College on September 18, falling 3-1 in a tightly contested four-set match. The Golden Eagles dropped the opener 25-23 before responding with a 26-24 victory in the second. Lurleen B. Wallace took the final two sets 25-16 and 25-23. Rock Valley and LBW each finished with 49 kills, while the Golden Eagles recorded 60 digs and 11 total blocks.
Prekducaj led RVC with 14 kills, while Gregotti finished with 13. Schmidt added eight kills and Davenport contributed six while hitting .308. Medina recorded 26 assists, Stubbs added 12 and Pace led the defensive effort with 19 digs. Medina also finished with 10 digs, while Stubbs added nine.
The Golden Eagles also faced Pearl River Community College on September 18. The submitted NJCAA box score lists Pearl River winning the match 3-1, with set scores of 25-23, 24-26, 25-16 and 25-23. However, the uploaded Pearl River box score does not include Rock Valley's team or individual statistical totals, so no RVC player statistics from that match are included here.
Across the two days, Rock Valley earned victories over Calhoun Community College, Enterprise State Community College and Baptist University of Florida while continuing to receive contributions throughout its lineup on offense, defense and at the net.
