ROCKFORD, Ill. – The Rock Valley College men's soccer team continued to build momentum in Region 4 play with a convincing 6-0 victory over College of DuPage, using a balanced offensive attack and another strong defensive performance to secure its second consecutive shutout.
After a patient start to the match, the Golden Eagles settled into their rhythm and began creating consistent pressure in the attacking third. Rock Valley broke through three times in the opening half before matching that output with three more goals after halftime.
RVC's attack was particularly effective from wide areas, creating dangerous service into the penalty box and finding space between the DuPage defensive lines. The Golden Eagles consistently turned those opportunities into quality chances, showing the execution and composure that have been a focus throughout training.
Alan Perez led the offensive effort with two goals and an assist. Antonio Ruiz also turned in a strong all-around performance, contributing a goal and an assist.
Reese Schlichting continued his impressive stretch of play by serving as one of the primary creators in the RVC attack. Schlichting recorded three assists and was also instrumental in the buildup that led to another Golden Eagle goal.
The offensive performance was complemented by another complete effort defensively. Rock Valley kept its shape throughout the match and prevented DuPage from finding a way onto the scoreboard, securing its second consecutive clean sheet.
Back-to-back shutouts combined with an increasingly productive attack have given the Golden Eagles momentum as they move deeper into the Region 4 portion of their schedule.
Rock Valley will now turn its attention to its next Region 4 matchup as the Golden Eagles look to continue their strong run of form.
