Rock Valley Women's Soccer Earns Back-to-Back Shutouts Over Triton and Madison

ROCKFORD, Ill. – Rock Valley College women's soccer continued its strong run through Region 4 competition with a pair of shutout victories over Triton College and Madison College. The Golden Eagles opened the stretch with a 5-0 road victory over Triton before earning a hard-fought 1-0 win against Madison, combining for six goals while keeping both opponents off the scoreboard.

Rock Valley began the stretch against Triton, overcoming a scoreless opening half with an impressive five-goal second-half performance.

After generating opportunities throughout the first 45 minutes, the Golden Eagles found their rhythm after halftime and broke through against the Triton defense. Sydney Stovall led the offensive effort with two goals, while Isabella "Izze" Fritz, Jocelyn Harms and Daniela Bernal-Pulido each added a goal.

Fritz played a key role in the victory, contributing a goal and two assists for a four-point performance. Emilia Arias and Kassandra Jimenez each recorded an assist as Rock Valley received offensive contributions from throughout the lineup.

The Golden Eagles finished with 16 shots, including eight on goal, while limiting Triton to four total attempts. Stovall and Arias each recorded four shots, while Fritz added three. Joscelyn Posada also contributed two shots, both on target.

Defensively, RVC remained organized throughout the contest. Goalkeeper Sareth Marquez played the opening 70 minutes before Zoey Williams handled the final 20 minutes, recording one save as the duo combined for the shutout.

Rock Valley returned to action against Madison College and faced a much different challenge. Despite controlling the attacking opportunities, the Golden Eagles found themselves in a tightly contested matchup against a Madison defense that proved difficult to break down.

RVC found the breakthrough in the first half when defender Aniah Schaffer scored the lone goal of the match, giving the Golden Eagles a 1-0 advantage heading into halftime.

Rock Valley continued to apply pressure throughout the second half, creating several opportunities to extend its lead. The Golden Eagles finished with 24 shots, including 16 on goal, but Madison goalkeeper Arabella Penfold kept the WolfPack within striking distance with 14 saves.

Emilia Arias and Fritz led the RVC attack with five shots apiece, while Keira Kelly added four shots, all on goal. Stovall contributed three attempts, and Kassandra Jimenez put both of her shots on target.

While the offense continued searching for an insurance goal, the Golden Eagles' defensive unit delivered another complete performance. Rock Valley limited Madison to just two shots, including one on goal, as Marquez played the full 90 minutes and recorded one save to secure the shutout.

The 1-0 victory highlighted RVC's ability to manage to keep Madison pinned in their own half almost the entire game and limit chances from another Region 4 opponent.

Across the two matches, Rock Valley outscored its opponents 6-0 while generating 40 shots and allowing just six. The Golden Eagles received goals from five different players and recorded consecutive clean sheets, demonstrating their ability to win through both offensive production and disciplined defensive play.

The pair of victories provides Rock Valley with additional momentum as the Golden Eagles continue through the final portion of their regular-season schedule and prepare for the upcoming Region 4 postseason.
