Rockford,IL:

Logan Lott a former RVC Baseball Coach is off to follow his dreams of being an MLB umpire. Logan has his work cut out for him to get to the Big Leagues, but you have to start somewhere, right?

Logan helped RVC Baseball under Coach Howard and Coach Herren for 2 years from 2022-2024.  He has always had his hand in umpiring following his Hall of Fame dad, Sonny Lott.  Logan has refereed basketball and football, along with umpiring baseball games around the Midwest. Baseball is the only sport out of the three that Logan has umpired at the collegiate level.  He has a strong passion for umpiring and has had to work for everything he has gotten.  He has been under the tutelage of Larry Young, a former Rock Valley College alumnus, that has worked his way up to Major League Baseball as an umpire. This includes working the World Series in 1996 and 2003.  Logan has dreams of making it big. Nothing is guaranteed for Logan, but the journey has started!

Logan's next steps in his journey; he has been selected to be one of over 50 umpires that get to prove what he or she can do at MLB camp in Vero Beach, Florida.  Once he gets settled in, he will go right to work with training, interviews, evaluations, CPR certification, medical review, and on-field work.

If his MLB camp runs smoothly, he will be chosen to work upcoming MLB Spring Training games.  Once Spring Training has ended, he will have a meeting to determine his next assignment.  A position within Major League Baseball is not guaranteed, but kudos on getting selected for this tremendous opportunity!  Obviously, Logan has some time to go to fulfill his dreams, but he has put in the work! Coach Herren mentions; "I wish The Mayor (as Coach Herren calls him) all the best knowing this has been something he has been wanting to do since day 1"!  Logan along with Jack Howard, Chad Herren, and Nate Washington  have gained a friendship and bond.  The support from Chad Herren and coaching staff will continue along with the friendships.  From all of us here at Rock Valley College, we wish the best for Logan and his family!
