Rockford, IL — The Rock Valley College Golden Eagles volleyball team secured their first win of the season last Thursday in front of an energized home crowd, defeating Illinois Valley Community College in four sets (3-1) during their first regional home match.
This victory marks not only the team's first win of the 2025 season but also an important confidence boost as they head deeper into regional competition. The win showcased the team's growth and resilience.
Head Coach Kristy Pierce expressed pride in the team's performance and remained optimistic about the path ahead.
"This is a much needed win to boost our young team's confidence," said Coach Pierce. "We've been building chemistry, and tonight the hard work paid off. I'm proud of this group of girls, this win sets the tone for the rest of our season." The Golden Eagles were led by standout performances at the net from
Zoey Aldarondo and
Kylie Swenson with 15 kills apiece and also had solid defensive play from
Rhema Pace with a total of 24 digs that kept IVCC from gaining momentum. With the home crowd behind them and much needed energy on the court, the team is looking forward to keeping the momentum going.
