Rockford, IL: The Golden Eagles Women's Soccer picked up their first Region 4 win at home vs Waubonsee Community College. The scoreline was tight through the first half of the game as the Chiefs defended physically and made it difficult for RVC to find a flow in the game. The Golden Eagles seemed to have most of the control giving up only 3 shots and handing sophomore goalkeeper
Naitzy Garcia her third win and second shut out of the season. RVC finished with 25 shots and 13 on frame for the evening.
The scoring opened early as
Emma Ambrose broke up play in the middle of midfield and played into
Isabelle Rivera who was able to keep play alive and put in
Abigail Carlson. Carlson then sprinted into the box before pulling the ball back for
Emma Ambrose to finish off the sequence from the top of the penalty area. Despite creating several other opportunities the half ended 1-0. As the second half started the Golden Eagles started moving the ball better which enabled the outside backs to create 2v1's in the final third. The second goal came from a bit of build up play with Harms picking the ball up in her own half and finding
Makenna Brown in central midfield. Brown was able to pick out a bending run from forward
Isabelle Rivera who raced beyond the Waubonsee center backs and found a streaking
Jocelyn Harms for the cut back and finish. The third goal came in the 57th minute from the penalty spot as
Jocelyn Harms converted for her 5th goal of the season. The depth for the Golden Eagles helped maintain a controlled second half, but couldn't convert another of their 15 second half shots.
The Golden Eagles pick up their third win of the season and first Region 4 win. They will take on Region 4 opponent Milwaukee Area Technical College on Wednesday September 4th, @ 1:00 PM central.
