Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

RVC Tops Kankakee 10-0

Rockford IL, Women's Soccer has picked up four Region 4 wins heading into Wednesdays match up on the road with Madison College who is 3-1 on the season. The Golden Eagles currently have outscored their opponents 23-0 in their first four Region 4 games. "One of the team goals for this season was to increase our defensive record. We know that we will score goals, but can we be stay mentally turned on and defensively solid for an entire 90 minutes? This will be important as we go into a Region that has improved overall from last season", coach Watkins said. The two early losses for RVC came off losses to teams ranked in the NJCAA top 10,  #8 Schoolcraft Community College and #5 Heartland Community College.

RVC started Region 4 play against Waubonsee Commmunity College scoring three and allowing only 3 shots on goal. The second win came on the road vs a feisty Milwaukee Area Technical College who has fought their way to a 3-2 record. The Golden Eagles lost the NJCAA National Player of the Week Joselyn Harms in the first 5 minutes of the game to an injury. The match never really gained any flow after the lengthy delay. Freshman Hailey Westphal opened the scoring in the first half with a winding run into the box as her deflected shot found the back of the net. The second goal came off an unstoppable Emma Ambrose free kick into the top of the net. It was one way traffic but MATC goalkeeper made 5 big saves and was off her line often as RVC sprayed 23 shots at the MATC goal. Naitzy Garcia was able to record her third shutout of the season and came up big on the only shot on goal of the game for MATC.

The Golden Eagles hosted Kankakee Community College that ended in a 10-0 win. Seven different goalscorers found the back of the net in the high tempo match. The possession based attack created many opportunities and led to six goals from crosses. Abigail Carlson, Sydney Carlson, and Keyla Suarez each scored 2 goals. Freshman Araceli Mendez scored her first goal of the season off a bending free kick from distance. The remaining goals were scored by Hailey Westphal, Isabelle Rivera, and Emma Ambrose

Last weekends road trip to Illinois Valley Community College resulted in a 8-0 win vs an IVCC that came off a recent win vs #10 Ranked NJCAA DIII Joliet Junior College. Once the Golden Eagles found the back of the net halfway through the first half there was no looking back. IVCC pressed and worked hard the first 20 minutes but were chasing the game as RVC dominated possession and moved the ball really well. Freshman Keyla Suarez recorded her first hat trick of her college career and Isabelle Rivera added two more to her tally. Other goal scorers included Haily Westphal, Abigail Carlson, and Adilene Perez. Naitzy Garcia recorded her 5th shutout of the season without having to make a save.
