The Rock Valley college baseball team finished up their regular season this past weekend With a sweep over Moraine valley college. The sweep pushed RVC's record to 38-13. The 38 wins ties a school record for the program. Game one saw
Griffin Smith take the mound for the Golden Eagles. Smith would go on to break his own single season record for strikeouts, he currently tallies 95 strikeouts on the season and looks to add more. The Golden Eagles would cruise to a 9-3 Victory in game one. RVC would then go on to dominate Game 2 winning 10-3. The sweep would wrap up a stellar regular season for Rock Valley.
Rock Valley's wonderful regular season would lead to RVC us earning the number 3 overall seed in region 4. The three seed allows Rock Valley to be one of four host sites for the first round of the region 4 tournament. The Golden Eagles will be in a three team pod along with the number six seed Carl Sandburg And the number 10 seed Sauk Valley.
RVC will host the first round this upcoming Friday and Saturday starting at 9:00 AM Friday. In game one Carl Sandburg will take on Sauk Valley. Game two will take place at 12:00 PM with RVC battling Carl Sandburg. Game Three will take place at 3:00 PM where the Golden Eagles will take on Sauk.
Saturday will begin at 11:00 AM where the 2-0 team will take on the team that went 1-1. The 0-2 team will have been eliminated from the postseason. A second game will only be necessary if the 1-1 team wins at 11. There will be a win or go home game at 2:00 PM if that is the case.
