Softball: Golden Eagles Advance to Elite Eight

Spartanburg, SC: The Golden Eagles pick up another win at the NJCAA DII National Tournament against the #4 seed and returning National Runner-Up Jones College in the national tournament second round.

The Golden Eagles would jump out to an 1-0 lead in the first inning before Jones would tie the game. Then Rock Valley's Sam Tourtillott would hit a moon shot that would break the tie and propel the Golden Eagles to a 3-1 lead and eventually a second round win. Alison Hasset would get the win in the circle after facing 25 batters and throwing 64 strikes with 6 strike outs only allowing one run in the game. "Alison Hassett showed her growth inside the circle and kept a great hitting team off balanced". Stated Head Coach Darin Monroe. 

The Golden Eagles offense was led by Faith McClain with a RBI and Sam Tourtilott with her homerun and 2 RBI's. "Proud of the way our kids competed against a great Jones County team today. We showed toughness and grit and a patience at the plate." Rock Valley was the dominant team from start to finish of today's game. The Golden Eagles would also control the base path as well stealing three bases on the day from Blomlie, Tourtillott and Wamboldt. "Our focus now turns to another great Louisburg team tomorrow." Stated Monroe
