Rock Valley Men's Soccer post season run comes to an end in Region 4 Quarterfinals. The Golden Eagles fell in a highly competitive 2-2 battle in regulation before losing 5-4 in penalty kicks loss to Morton Community College in the Division 2 NJCAA Region 4 Tournament. RVC ended their season with a record of 9-2-7. "It's a brutal way to end your season," said head coach Tim Romanello following the game. "That's sports for you. That's how it all unfolds, unfortunately." The Golden Eagles were on an 8-match unbeaten streak before ultimately falling to the #6 Morton Panthers.
"In the end, I think we moved the needle again on our program. It's definitely short of the ultimate goal and vision we have in mind. That said, we were able to accomplish quite a few things despite losing in the region tournament."
Rock Valley was led by Sophomores and All-Region 4 players Jorge Leon (1st Team All-Region), Julio Davila (1st Team All-Region), Alyas Fritz (2nd Team All-Region), and Victor Ibarra (2nd Team All-Region). "These young men have been tremendous ambassadors for our program," said Romanello. They are leaving a distinguished legacy and all are poised to be successful at the next levels and in their life journey after Rock Valley. I'm extremely proud of them, not just these four, but all the sophomores that have put so much time and energy into evolving our program."
This season saw the Golden Eagles reach the national poll again and continue to gain respect at the NJCAA Division 2 level. 2024 was the fifth consecutive winning season for the men. The program won their 100th match in East Moline with a 4-1 victory over Black Hawk College.
