Rockford IL - The Golden Eagles win their 5th game in a row with a 9-2 victory against Parkland College. Six different players found the back of the net in the win. RVC started out the game strong and got on the board early through NJCAA DII leading scorer
Anika Elgin assisted by
Isabella Garrelts. Parkland capitalized shortly after winning a couple challenges and creating a good chance finding the back of the net past goalkeeper
Naitzy Garcia. After that RVC was able to start finding space in central areas and cause Parkland a lot of trouble in wide areas that led to 5 first half goals.
Coach Watkins said the following about the performance, "I was very happy with us starting and finishing a game strong. We still have to fix a few small errors which led to chances and goals for Parkland. At the end of the day the scoreline was a bit flattering. Parkland are a good team and have several players in the team that will cause their opponents a lot of trouble as the season continues. I think they were organized and moved the ball well, but maybe not in the parts of the field they would have liked. We were able to create way more possession in our second phase of play which then lead to overloads in the final third, which we were able to capitalize on consistently. Now the goal is to maintain the type of movement and finishing as we head into two Region games this week."
