The Rock Valley College softball team has punched its ticket to the 2023 NJCAA DII Softball National Tournament. The Golden Eagles won the Region IV and Midwest District B Championship on Tuesday afternoon over the third seed Madison College Wolfpack securing its tenth straight trip to the NJCAA National Tournament and first trip as a division 2 program in Spartanburg, SC.
It would only take one game for, the Golden Eagles to secure the final spot in the 16 team tournament in Spartanburg. RVC was led by Samantha Tourtillott with 2HRs and 4 RBIs,
Felicia Teubert 1 double, 1HR, 3 RBIs and
Ava Martin and
Katie Hayes with two RBIs apiece.
Madison Carlson would get the win in the circle throwing five innings only giving up two hits with three strikeouts through 17 batters faced.
"We made the jump to Division 2 to allow this program to continue to grow. The division may have changed but our expectation remains the same." Stated Coach

The Golden Eagles are an astounding 44-10 on the season and are the #10 ranked team in the NJCAA DII Poll. They now await to see who they will play in their first game at the National Tournament while seeking a historic ninth consecutive national championship for softball. No team in the history of the NJCAA (all divisions) has ever accomplished this feat in softball. Â

Grace Stevenson were all named to the NJCAA DII Region IV District B All-Tournament Team. While
Darin Monroe and ViVi Marquez were named Region IV Coaches of the Year.

Rock Valley Softball staff was also selected as
2023 ATEC/NFCA NJCAA Division I and II Regional Coaching Staff of the Year. "Being selected as coaching staff of the year is so exciting! We didn't expect this and it feels good. As a staff we are just take one day at a time and see what happens. We are excited to finish strong at the National Tournament." Stated Coach Marquez
