RVC Softball splits their double header against #3 Parkland College pushing the Golden Eagles overall record to 34-9 and currently coming in as the 11
th ranked team in the NJCAA DII Softball poll.
The Golden Eagles would drop game one to the 3
rd ranked Cobras by a final score of 5-1.The Cobras would jump out early to a 4-0 lead in the first two innings, and wouldn't look back. Parkland's #1 pitcher Karley Yergler (20-7) on the year would compile 8 strikeouts and only allowed 1 earned run on 3 hits.
Madison Carlson would take the loss in the circle for the Golden Eagles in game one pitching 2 innings allowing 6 hits and 4 runs, 2 of those runs being earned.
Hannah Martin would finish the game for RVC pitching 5 innings, giving up 2 hits and collecting 4 strikeouts.
Game two would see Rock Valley come away with a 2-1 victory over #3 Parkland.
Madison Carlson picked up the win in the circle for the Golden Eagles going the full 7 innings only allowing 1 run and collecting 11 strikeouts through 28 batters faced in the game.
Grace Stevenson and
Katie Hayes both hit doubles in the game and both earned one RBI apiece.
Golden Eagles are back to work on Friday against Sauk Valley College and Triton College on Saturday. Both matchups will be played on the campus of Rock Valley College.
