Back to Back Sweeps for the Golden Eagles

Rockford, IL – The Golden Eagles have won four straight games, sweeping Prairie State and Olive Harvey in back to back days. RVC sits at 23-20 on the season with twelve games remaining. The Golden Eagles are back at it today against Heartland College. 

Prairie State Double Header 

In game one it was the RVC pitching staff that dominated Prairie State. Shutting the Pioneers out, 4-0. Griffin Smith went the distance, striking out eleven and only allowing two hits. Payton Matthews went 2-3 in the game with an RBI, SB and a BB. 

In game two, Lucas Rick led the charge with 2 hits, 2 RBIs. Blaise, Glossa and Lindquist with an RBI each. RVC scored two runs in the first and added three in the 6th inning. Prairie State made a late charge in the top of the 7th scoring four runs but it wasn't enough. 

Olive Harvey Double Header 

In game on the Golden Eagles mercy ruled the Panthers with a score of 14-4. Payton Matthews had a great outing with two hits, one being a triple and snagging two bags. Drew Burkholder had himself a great game with four RBIs. He had two singles and a bases clearing double. 

In game two the Golden Eagles would put up 10 runs in the first inning on their way to a route of the Panthers. Matt Heinrich had a very solid performance going 2-2, with a HBP,  single, double, two RBIs and a stolen base. RVC would go on to win with a final score of 18-2.
