The Rock Valley baseball stepped onto the diamond Tuesday afternoon to take on Kishwaukee College, on campus for the home opener. The game was originally scheduled to be played at Kishwaukee so the Golden Eagles were the visiting team on the scoreboard. The Golden Eagles jumped out to a four run lead in the top of the first inning and would add another two in the top of the second inning. The Golden Eagles wouldn't look back as
Kahler Key would dominate the first 6 innings. Key struck out 6 batters, allowed 3 hits and only gave up 1 earned run. The bats were hot for the Golden Eagles who put up sixteen hits and seven of them being extra base hits.
Lucas Rick and
Jackson Lindquist both connected for three hits and two doubles a piece.
Payton Matthews went 3-4 on the day with 2 RBIs. In the DH spot
Ethan Glossa reached base four times with two walks and two singles. The Golden Eagles were also active on the bases, swiping seven bases.
The Golden Eagles baseball team is back in action this weekend against Southeastern IA. Rock Valley will head to Memphis for their annual spring break trip playing March 10th through March 13th.
