Rockford, IL (October 29th, 2023) - Rock Valley Women defeated Moraine Valley College 3-1 in the NJCAA Region IV Quarterfinal.
#7 Anika Elgin started the scoring in the third minute with a powerful header off a well driven #10
Emma Ambrose corner kick. Moraine Valley scored through Betzaida Lopez on a quick counter attack in the 18th minute. The Golden Eagles were able to maintain the pressure and found another breakthrough off a quick corner from Ambrose to #25
Jocelyn Harms who bent the ball into the net from distance just off the Moraine Valley goalkeepers fingertips. There were a few more chances in the first half, but MVC goalkeeper #1 Ximena Delgado came up big with a point blank save on Elgin and bravely came off her line for a cross and colliding with Harms just in the box.
The Golden Eagles were able to add to the first half lead in the second half with a good transition moment on the flank finding Ambrose who put in a fantastic cross to #25
Jocelyn Harms who beat 3 defenders and the goalkeeper before finding the back of the net. The third goal gave RVC the breathing room to see the game out. Both #99 Niatzy Garcia and #0
