Road to Tucson Continues!

Rock Valley College Men's Soccer topple #16 Morton College who was also the #3 seed in the Region IV Tournament. The Golden Eagles continued their hot play, finding the back of the net 4 times well knocking of last year's National Runner-Up. RVC is now 12-5-2 on the year and looks to continue their impressive play this Tuesday in the Region Semi-Final.

First Half

The Golden Eagles wasted very little time showing they were ready to play and were not going to be an easy out, when Sam Herrejon found the net 7 minutes into the match. However, one goal was not enough for Max Rebori as he added another goal for Rock Valley just a minute later. The Golden Eagles lead 2-0 8 minutes into the match and firmly in the driver's seat. Morton, however, would not go down without a fight as they cut the lead back to 1 in the 12th minute when Jean Leonardo found the goal. The Golden Eagles were able to respond late in the first half when Jorge Leon was able to put in another goal in the 39th minute giving RVC a 3-1 lead going into half time.

Second Half

The start of the second half was the opposite of the first with Morton finding the back of the net 2 minutes into the half with a goal from Bachir Bouamama to put the Panthers back down by 1 with a score of 3-2. Rock Valley needed to respond, and their response would come in the 66th minute with a goal from Edwin Navas to put RVC up 4-2 with 24 minutes left in the match. Morton would not let the Golden Eagles celebrate just yet, as Bachir Bouamama put away his second goal of the match in the 79th minute. However, in the final 11 minutes Rock Valley would not allow the Panthers to even the score and held on to win 4-3 advancing to the Region IV Semi-Finals.

What's Next

The Rock Valley College Men's Soccer team will be facing #20 Carl Sandburg College in the semi-finals of the Region IV Tournament. Carl Sandburg comes into the game as the #2 seed for the region tournament and advanced to the semi's by beating Moraine Valley 2-0 in the quarterfinals. The game will be played at Knox College on Tuesday, October 31st at 1PM. Coach Romanello had two words to say about having the opportunity to play in the semi's, "Massively Excited".

Carl Sandburg was able to outlast the Golden Eagles in a nail biter 1-0, the last time the two faced off earlier this season. Despite the lost RVC dominated the possession and shots attempted. Rock Valley will be ready and eager to play Tuesday's match with a spot in the Region IV Championship on the line.
